Thank you so much for your compliments and questions about my lipstick.
Today I am sharing my favorite lipstick and some little luxuries that I also love.
Thank you so much for your compliments and questions about my lipstick.
Today I am sharing my favorite lipstick and some little luxuries that I also love.
I really enjoy wearing lipstick much the same way I enjoy wearing jewelry.
When you look in the mirror, you really should love what you see. For me, I find that jewelry and a bit of makeup can make a world of difference related to my self-esteem and even productivity with minimal effort, too. Adding some jewelry and a swipe of lipstick can take less than 5 seconds so why not treat yourself to an almost instant mood boost and personal style statement.
When I put on jewelry, I know it is going to compliment my face in the sense that it will set me apart from the rest, add a bit of personality, and highlight my facial features.
Since I spend a lot of time taking pictures and doing live videos, I find that lipstick can go a long way. I do like bright, classic colors like bright reds and pinks even during the day on a Tuesday.
Today I am sharing my favorite lipsticks with you.
I am a Bobbi Brown Girl. The short story is when I worked at Neiman Marcus, the Bobbi Brown counter was right across the way from the jewelry counter. I became friends with some of the makeup artists and representatives for Bobbi Brown and the customer service and demonstration of the products has made me a loyal Bobbi Brown customer for life.
Just like Vintage Meet Modern, you should expect more. I was shocked when a fellow business associate said to me a few years ago that she did not realize that when you strolled through Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus you could request to have items tried on, get suggestions made for your skin type, and even samples to try at home before you buy. I want to emphasize that good customer service can make all the difference. It’s so important before you commit to buying any product. (more on that on a different day)
Bobbi Brown representatives at in-person locations like department stores have always been trusted advisors. I have never felt pressured to buy something and I have always felt that they have genuinely wanted to help me find products that would make me feel good about myself and the woman I saw in the mirror, much the same way we at Vintage Meet Modern try to help our clients find the perfect pieces for them. In this case, shades.
In the online space, Bobbi Brown has also stayed competitive with a great virtual chatbox, easy return policy, virtually try-on by uploading your picture, a rewards program, and more. While cosmetic sales in the past have been few and far between, signing up for their emails and joining their rewards program has its perks with great sales from time to time.
Overall though I continue to wear Bobbi Brown lipstick because it solves my “problems.”
The lipstick line I wear from them is highly pigmented and moisturized and I confess, I am a lip licker. I frequently lick my lipstick off as a habit so having a highly pigmented moisturizing color means my lipstick stays on longer.
My lips are a very natural bright pink, which is wonderful, but it also means that I have to be mindful that colors don’t always look true on me because my lips are already very pink. It has been very hard for me to find “true reds” that actually look red on me. The same goes for pinks and especially neutrals, which just disappear on me when I wear them.
The tubes last a long time! I wear lipstick daily and reapply it several times a day and the tubes last forever. They are a good investment in that you can get a lot of wear out of them.
It’s lipstick over eyeshadow in my world. I have small, very slanted eyes that almost disappear when I smile. No matter how hard I try, wearing eye makeup is a big chore for me, whereas, lipstick is a swipe and go. So when it comes to making a big impact with a tiny effort, lipstick always wins.
If you have ever watched a VMM video or seen a photo of me chances are I am wearing one of these shades.
Thank you so much for all of your questions and comments when I wear lipstick. I consider it an honor when you ask me which shade I am wearing.
The important thing is to put your jewelry on and some lipstick, too. Whether you are a Bobbi Brown girl or love to stop by the Revlon department at the drugstore, lipstick can be a great pick-me-up just like jewelry. It will only enhance your beautiful face.
Be sure to share with me your pictures, favorite shades, and brands, too.
XOXO,
Veronica
We had so much fun chatting about skincare this week that I decided to keep the party going and chat with you about tried and true faves in my makeup bag.
I am not a beauty vlogger or makeup expert but I do love makeup. I have a rather large collection of products and colors and enjoy wearing makeup much the way I love skincare and jewelry. I frequently add new colors and palettes seasonally. I replace products when I run out, too.
I think of makeup much like another accessory; you can skip it but you can also use it to enhance your look and personalize your individual style.
Before I even start talking about lipstick and eyeshadows, remember makeup goes on better with a “solid foundation” so be sure to check out my skincare routine before I even put my makeup on. Also remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I cannot say enough about how great skin starts with hydration. Whether you wear makeup or not, everything from your skincare products to makeup will go smoother if you make drinking water part of your daily routine.
Let’s talk about makeup. Just like with skincare, you will see very quickly a theme. When I find products that work, I stick with them. I have been loyal to Bobbi Brown’s products for nearly 20 years.
Why do I stick with Bobbi Brown? I find that if you purchase from the Bobbi Brown counter in higher-end department stores like Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, or Nordstrom, besides the salesperson, the counter has a trained Bobbi Brown Makeup artist on staff. This means they are trained on the latest products and can answer your questions about everything from how to pick the right shades and colors to how to proper application. Bobbi Brown can be very generous with samples if you are on the fence about something and also frequently will do in-store makeovers if you schedule them in advance. Many times this is complimentary. Though if you love the way you look, most likely you will walk away with a few new items that you will love.
This type of service is not limited to Bobbi Brown. If you love Estee Lauder, Lancome, Dior, or Chanel, most of the time when you visit the department store the brand has a representative present.
I also like Bobbi Brown because the brand prides itself on being derived from the colors in nature. Meaning it is intended to be a natural look. The “natural look” is another reason why I stick with this brand.
My first step is always to use the Vitamin Enriched Face Base which acts as a makeup primer and moisturizer. I like it because it does not go on greasy, absorbs quickly, and adds a layer of hydration helping your foundation go on smoother. I also add a hydrating eye cream to my under-eye area. It helps with dark circles and adds extra hydration which helps significantly when applying corrector and concealer.
I use two foundations depending on what my day looks like. I really like the long-wear fluid powder foundation because it does what it says. It stays on for a long time with minimal touch-up. I also use the intensive skin serum foundation when I find that I will be outside in the elements more during the day or if I am doing videos/taking pictures. It goes on a little heavier but it also has a broad spectrum SPF 40. I use a combination of a foundation brush and a beauty blender to blend my foundation evenly.
I do my brows next. Yes, I have mentioned I wish I could go back in time and not pluck or wax my brows as much as I did. I use Anastasia’s Brow Definer to fill in my brows. I like it because the pencil part is thicker and it blends easily. Plus it comes in a lot of different shades and the brush to blend your brows in on the opposite end of the pencil. I also use Anastasia’s Brow Gel in clear to set my brows. Even though I have small brows, setting them with clear gel helps hold the color all day. I like a natural look so I use the clear vs. tinted gel.
From there I do my eyes. I like using Bobbi Brown Palette and typically treat myself to a new one each season. I find that you get a lot of bang for your buck with color selection and again, they last a long time or at least until you get a bit bored with the colors (like I do) or you want to change up your colors based on the season. I use natural colors on my eyes starting with a color called “Bone” all over then I fill in from crease to lid with a color called “Antique Rose.” How appropriate, right? I like to add a little color to my lids but I also like something that I can’t screw up. I use another Bobbi Brown Product that I love. It’s called the “Longwear Cream Shadow Stick” and they go on like your traditional eyeshade except in a cream form so it doesn't flake or look powdery. I love that you can really blend it in for a very natural look and they are available with both a matte and pearl finish.
I finish up with Mascara and I swear by Dior Addict It-Lash. I have never been very good at putting on falsies but when I use this mascara I feel like it goes on as close as I will ever get to them. It does not flake, it has a deep black color, and the brush works well with my thin lashes. Note, this product is pretty much only available at department stores with a Dior Makeup Counter. It is worth the trip or ship (Nordstrom offers free shipping). It is not available at Sephora or Ulta.
I sweep golden light highlighter/bronzer to warm up my face. I sweep Pale Pink or Powder Pink on my cheekbones as blush.
I know many apply corrector/concealer earlier but I put mine on last or towards the end of my makeup routine. I was taught that if you get any makeup like mascara flakes or eye shadow fall out, you can easily use a little makeup remover to clean up the area before you put the concealer on instead of having it blend into your concealer/corrector and having to take it all off.
Because I keep my skin, including my eye area hydrated, I tend to only need a corrector which helps with my dark circles. I do use concealer to cover up a few tiny regular known problem areas. I have a red freckle on the bridge of my nose that I cover up and I have two small dark spots from past scars. The concealer helps blend both in.
I am always very careful about taking extra time to blend my skin with the products so that everything I put on looks natural.
People really love the pricier name-brand beauty blenders but I am very happy with the drugstore brand I use which includes an orange blender for foundation/makeup and a pink sponge for powder to set your look. Linked below.
With all the talk about Bobbi Brown Products, you would think that I would use their powder but I use E.L.F. setting powders to set my make up or touch up and remove the shine on the go.
I finish my look with a product I love. The Shimmer Brick from Bobbi Brown. If I was to tell you to splurge on one Bobbi Brown product, this is the one. It acts as a highlighter and also gives you that “sparkly” glow that so many of you comment about. As a bonus, you can use individual colors to highlight your eyes like an eyeshadow. Also based on application difficulty I rate this an easy 2. If you can apply a sweep of blush on your cheeks and across your T-Zone and splurge on the brush, it will become part of your routine on autopilot. Plus this is a product you can use and enjoy even if you don’t wear a lot of makeup.
Last comes lipstick! I love lipstick! I use Bobbi Brown lipsticks in the gold tube. I love this type of lipstick offered by Bobbi because I have a habit of licking my lipstick off unintentionally. Secondly, I have very pink pigmented lips. This formula stays on and covers my lips evenly. My next post will cover my favorite lipstick colors.
It has been so fun chatting with all of you about makeup. Like I said for me, makeup is much like an accessory. I love wearing a bit of it everyday and I love to change it up pretty frequently.
Be sure to tell me about some of your favorite brands. As a makeup lover, I always enjoy hearing about what other people enjoy.
What’s even faster than makeup? Jewelry! Pop on your favorite earrings or necklace and before you can even swipe on your lipstick you are ready to go.
XOXO,
Veronica

Help Wanted.
While I have shied away from asking for help (full of pride here), VMM needs a little help from you spreading the word about our little brand in the big world.
You just can’t buy these pieces on Amazon. There really is a hashtag #cantbuythisonamazon
Our pieces are unique, out of production, they were never produced and many pieces were made and assembled by real people right here in the USA! Fun fact, I did an interview with Andrea from Lost Orchid Interiors who told us all about her grandmother who worked for
B.David in Ohio assembling those beautiful rhinestone pieces that so many of you collect.
Also, I thank you in advance. I wish I was Amazon but I cannot provide two-day shipping like Amazon Prime no matter how hard I try. I know many of you get excited when you see your pretty from VMM has shipped and then feel a let down when you see the tracking number bounce all over the country or even your own town before it finally lands on your doorstep. I am a giver and I’d like you all to know that if I could deliver every piece in person, I would. I also feel your pain and frustration.
Vintage is also receiving a lot of positive press lately. Golden Globe nominee Ethan Hawke and his wife Ryan were spotted wearing vintage clothing, bought at Second Skin Vintage, Castle Street in Wilmington, at the virtual event held on Sunday, February 28.
Did you know that “the Secondhand market [is] set to hit $64B in the next 5 years”? I walk the walk, too! Here are some pictures of me wearing vintage jewelry and every piece of clothes I am wearing was purchased from ThredUp.
Vintage is making a comeback that you can feel proud to be part of. Many of you already have an appreciation for the story behind the pieces, the environmental aspect of shopping vintage, and of course how it makes your style unique and personal, moving away from the mass-marketed trends on sites like Amazon.
Many of you shop with Vintage Meet Modern for that exact reason and that is why I love and appreciate you so much.
I need your help! Please tell a friend about Vintage Meet Modern or Join us tonight and share our video. It means more than you know. Vintage Meet Modern, like many small businesses, has faced a lot of challenges due to CoronaVirus - everything from canceled events, postal delays, to changes in how people dress day-to-day.
I know many of you are exhausted from hearing about these challenges but not getting to do in-person events has really affected us. Selling vintage jewelry is more than necklaces and brooches, Vintage Meet Modern is a movement celebrating the vintage modern mix and memorable, empowering personal style. Even if you don’t buy our pieces, we sure do appreciate your support and tell a friend or family member about us.
I am also proud to talk about brands and products that help you live a better life and elevate your personal style. Many might not know that while I do not receive compensation often for my reviews of products that will enhance your life, I do have a lot of experience in sales, customer service, and brand awareness. If you know of a brand or product looking for an ambassador, please pass on my information or let me know of a brand that might need some love from me.
I want to thank you for supporting a small business. I want to thank you for understanding that our products can’t be found on Amazon and while that provides challenges, we also embrace them because we know they make a difference in your life and ultimately the world.
Every week I get excited to connect with all of you and also to put together fresh and new collections. My number one goal is to help you be your best inside and out. I want you to love what you see in the mirror and know the pieces you wear to celebrate your personal style. It also means that you are supporting a small business and real people who in turn also support small businesses and make a difference in their own personal communities.
Don’t worry, I also shop Amazon, Target, J.Crew, and many other shops that you enjoy and shop at, too. After all, it is Vintage Meet Modern.
At the end of the day, I want us all to feel good that when you shop Vintage Meet Modern, you really #cantbuythisonamazon.
Thank you all for being part of the VMM way of life, and I hope we can grow our little circle to be even bigger and better.
XOXO,
Veronica

I’m spilling the tea on my skincare routine because jewelry and great skin are always in.
Chances are that if you love to wear jewelry, you also try to take good care of your skin. After all, a great pair of earrings or a beautiful necklace enhances your pretty face. This is true whether you wear makeup or not.
I really want to thank you for so many compliments on my skin. I have said many times I would let you know what products I use and the time has finally come.
It’s never really been a secret. I simply hadn’t gotten around to telling you. My goal is to help you look and feel your best so it would not be fair for me not to give you the links or go into details as to why I use certain products.
First and foremost, I believe there are two essential things that I do that have helped me achieve good skin: I drink a ton of water and I stay out of the sun.
I keep two bottles of water on my nightstand and I drink one before bed and drink the second when I wake up. I also keep water on my desk and I also keep a bottle in the car. Hydration is very important.
Next, I protect my skin from the sun. Always have, always will. Funny story, my dad went bald at a very early age. In fact, I cannot remember him with hair. So as annoying as it was, he would always say “put a hat on.” I didn’t understand until later in life that he always wore hats to protect his own head from sunburn. Now I know why. Protect your skin. We have a pool. I go to a lot of Michael's baseball games and my daughter’s tennis matches so I am out in the sun a lot but I always wear sunscreen or foundation with sunscreen and a hat.
I’m 43. I suffer from many of the same things you do: stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes, seasons with completely different climates - so how do I keep my skin aglow?
I believe what you put on your skin even before makeup or when you don’t wear makeup plays a big role in having glowing skin.
I started using Sabbatical Beauty’s products about 3 years ago and now I am religious about them. I actually met Adeline Koh, Sabbatical Beauty’s founder, through an entrepreneurial group and tried her products because I wanted to learn more about her successful business built around her products. I wanted to know about someone’s business and I learned how to take better care of my skin, win-win.
I start my day with a fresh face. I rinse with some cool water (keep in mind my skin is clean from the night before) and I use a swipe of what I believe to be a miracle product, Beauty Water. Better than a toner, this product (even with clean skin) pulls out whatever is clogging your pores - including blackheads. After Beauty Water, I use two lightweight serums: Asian Powerhouse and Marine Serum. If you start to use these products and think well how do you remember what order to put them on I just remember A before P. One more tip: let the serums sit individually before you layer on the next. Frequently I put on the Asian Powerhouse serum and then fix my hair or pick out my clothes, etc., and give each product a little time to absorb.
Now it’s time to prep for makeup. I use Bobbi Brown’s Enriched Face Base which includes a moisturizer and primer. It’s like the foundation for your foundation. I use Bobbi Brown's Hydrating Eye Cream for my eyes (you will see a trend very soon).
Foundation. I believe the foundation I use is part of that “glow” that many of you compliment me on. It’s Bobbi Brown’s Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. It has a broad spectrum SPF 40. I always use a foundation brush to apply as I really try to blend it into my skin and especially match up to my neck.
From there I fix my eyebrows. To fill in my brows I use Anastasia’s Brow Definer and I set it with Anastasia's Clear Brow Gel.
When I wear eye shadow, I use a palette from Bobbi Brown. In this case, Nude Drama II. Typically I treat myself to a new palette each season as long as it has “natural colors.” I swipe Ivory Eye Shadow across my entire lid and then highlight from my arch to the lid with a color called “Antique Rose” - how appropriate. On my lid, I use their cream shadow stick. Golden Pink is my favorite. I love them because I don’t have to worry about the shadow flaking off onto my under-eye area and it stays on longer. I finish with Dior Addict “It Lash,” my favorite mascara.
To highlight my face I use Bobbi Brown’s bronzer. I sweep a small amount of Bobbi’s Pale Pink Blush on my cheeks for blush.
I learned a long time ago to apply your concealer and corrector after the rest of your makeup is on. That way if you get flakes from mascara or eye shadow, you're not trying to correct something that has the wrong product in that area. I use Bobbi Brown’s Corrector followed by Bobbi Brown's Concealer. I apply everything with a concealer brush from ELF, so it’s extremely reasonably priced and can be found at your local drugstore. When I’m finished, I blend my entire face with a beauty sponge also found at Target or Amazon and it works just as well if not better than the pricey “Beauty Blender.” I use them to powder off my face to set it. Last, I use Brightening Brick from Bobbi Brown to give me just a hint of a glow.
Now it’s time for lipstick! My favorite part. I have 5 Bobbi Brown lipsticks that I love and adore including my “signature color” Parisian Red. I promise to do a separate post with links to my favorite lipsticks soon.
All of these products help me look and feel my best and give me the confidence to take selfies and be on camera for all of you. I do not use a filter on my pictures. I only correct them using the brighten feature and shadow minimizer because sometimes the light is not ideal and obviously, I want you to see how the jewelry looks in natural light.
What you put on, you have to take off. Friends, this is really important. I actually think a nighttime routine may be more important than a daytime routine because you go to bed with it. Just like sleep restores you, the products I use at night help restore your skin.
There are many benefits to having a nighttime routine including signaling my body that day is done, releasing the tension, and preparing to close my eyes and have sweet dreams.
I use an oil-based cleanser called Rose Cleansing Balm from Sabbatical Beauty. I like the balm because I feel like a thicker product allows for better control when taking off your makeup plus you can give your face a nice massage. Then, I use SB’s Beauty Water again. When you look down at the cotton pad you will be shocked and pleased at how much gunk it takes off.
I also use ELF's Lip Scrub which helps prevent feathering of the lips and dry skin around the lips. Personally, I feel that mask-wearing adds to chapped lips so this is a quick and easy remedy.
Then I alternate days between serums: Sabbatical Beauty and Retinol Cream.
My sister turned me on to a product called Diamond Line Refine by KD Skincare. It does contain retinol and other active ingredients and I do believe it helps with the fine lines on my forehead and crow's feet by my eyes. It does have a tendency to be a bit drying so I alternate nights with more Sabbatical Beauty products.
When I am not using the KD Diamond Refine, I use Sabbatical Beauty’s Dorian Grey Serum followed by Camellia Gold Oil, which again is another product I believe helps me achieve my glow and it’s a product that contains real gold flecks? For a jewelry gal, it’s like a dream come true. Again, I try and give the products 5-10 minutes in between layering them. It seems like a long time but really it is not by the time I put on my pajamas and take all the throw pillows off my bed.
Last, when I get into bed, I apply Bobbi Brown’s Intensive Eye Cream and a swipe of ELF’s lip gloss. Yes, it has a hint of pink but you’ll feel pretty as you drift off.
That’s my routine to achieve healthy, glowing skin.
Now if you're thinking, “But Veronica, I don’t have time for all of this.” Let me tell you, it’s about a 30-minute investment of your time and I multitask doing things you must do at the same time, especially when doing my morning and nighttime routine.
In the morning while waiting for serums to absorb, I get dressed, brush my teeth, and fix my hair. Then apply my makeup. The whole routine takes about 20 minutes and I do a lot of other things while I do it.
My nighttime routine can be as quick as 10 minutes and again, I do things while I wait for the serums to absorb: brush teeth, put on PJ’s, and get my bottles of water. Frequently, I like to make the routine a little bit longer because it is part of my wind-down routine.
Thank you so much for all your compliments on my skin. Much like I enjoy picking out and wearing jewelry, I enjoy taking care of my skin, too. After all, everyone sees your face, including you, so you should love what you see in the mirror.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. This is not a sponsored post and everything I am sharing is from my own experiences. Everyone’s skin is different.
For me, you can obviously see from all the products mentioned, from Sabbatical Beauty to Bobbi Brown, I also credit good skin to finding products that work for your skin and stick with them. I could never bounce from product to product or brand to brand without it causing breakouts or problems like flaking/dry skin which then would affect how my makeup went on.
You are all beautiful with and without makeup. Remember jewelry can go a long way, too. Putting on a pair of earrings is even faster than makeup.
XOXO,
Veronica
This post while full of my own personal opinions and experiences contains affiliate links.
I will get a teeny tiny commission if you purchase these products and add them to your routine.
How would you feel if something was named after you?
What an honor it would be.
We all know that jewelry and accessories are your jam, they are mine, too.
You love vintage jewelry because it creates a look completely unique to you. You can’t find the pieces easily anywhere else, they elevate and personalize your look, and they are out of production. It's a total style trifecta.
I’m always coming up with ways to show you how easy it is to wear vintage jewelry. When someone else came up with a way to wear our brooches and even named a bag after me, my jaw dropped.
The Veronica Bag.
Stacie from Darling Clutch Co named a bag “The Veronica Bag” after she created one of her hand-crafted statement bags featuring a turquoise brooch from VMM.
Oh my goodness! Not only is the bag amazing with rich elegant colors, it features a brooch in signature VMM turquoise blue. It is one of a kind.
Do you know what the best part is? You can have a bag named after you! Stacie and I love to make style dreams come true. It’s easier and more practical than you think.
Stacie also created another bag using one of the Maltese Style Brooch. She personally picked it because she knew she could create an incredible design using the brooch.
I spend hours searching for the perfect brooches to add to the VMM collection. She is the master creating one kind “it” bags which are btw not only beautiful but carefully crafted to be used. These are one kind of bags but just like vintage jewelry they are not meant to sit in your closet, they are meant to be used, worn, and enjoyed.
They easily hold your cell phone, lipstick, car keys, and a few other essentials you always carry + she has created bags that you can easily personalize by adding your favorite brooches in every material from sustainable cork to her classic cigar box bags which are made from vintage boxes.
Here are some examples of how I add different brooches to my Darling Clutch Bag.
So what are you waiting for when you get a brooch from Vintage Meet Modern and Bag from Darling Clutch Co you can have the “Leanne Bag,” “Gail Bag,” or “Michelle Bag.” Your name + Your Style.
Thank you so much for supporting VMM throughout the years, I know that many of you love the jewelry and continue to enjoy it because of the little bit of time we spend together from our weekly jewelry shows to the conversations behind the scenes. I never take your support of compliments and comments for granted.
The “Veronica Bag” is available and you can shop it at VMM or Darling Clutch Co. I’d be honored for one of you to add it to your collection.
If you want a truly personal bag, don’t forget you can pick a brooch from VMM and pin it to a Darling Clutch Co bag, or if you want to go one step further, you can always contact Stacie and she will create an amazing bag around your style and brooch from VMM.
I can’t wait to see what brooches you pick and how you wear them with a clutch or bag. I promise you will turn heads, fetch compliments, and most importantly smile knowing it’s unique to you.
Xoxo,
Veronica
This weekend is special. It’s the “Better Together” Sale at Vintage Meet Modern or also known as the “Match Made In Heaven” Sale.
So many people start off January with resolutions: I will take better care of myself; I will shop more intentionally; I will be more resourceful; I will support more small businesses; I will lose weight and eat healthily; I will engage with more supportive and like-minded people.
I have heard it all, and I have even made some of these resolutions, too.
When I founded Vintage Meet Modern, it was founded and based on quite a few of the “resolutions” mentioned above, which I honestly think of more as healthy lifestyle changes because all of these resolutions have the ability to help you lead a life of better quality and personal contentment.
So I set out to create a collection that was curated. That flowed. That supported sustainability, pieces that worked together in harmony in all aspects, the pieces had to be able to be worn together literally i.e. necklaces had to match earrings, rings had to go with necklaces, etc. and the pieces did not need to be perfect matches, they worked together like an orchestra, a team, or even brushstrokes making up a beautiful piece of artwork.
They had to work with other jewelry you already own. It has to work with what hangs in your closet and what you actually wear.
They had to be a representation of a community or “coupling” of women who wore vintage jewelry because they loved it and appreciated it. It’s why Vintage Meet Modern is more than jewelry, it’s more of a movement and community of vintage jewelry loving gals from all over the world.
They to be a physical representation of how pre-loved pieces could and would be better together by what you and who you put it with. They had to work better than what you could find at the cash wrap of your local shop: mass-produced and enticing you to just throw something on to complete the look. The pieces could not be gimmicky, they had to be intentionally put together.
To “Elevate” style means you take something and make it just that much better when you add the “perfect piece.” I talk a lot about how vintage, pre-loved, with provenance, is that special something that elevates a woman’s personal style which in turn leads to more self-confidence.
As you can see, this sale is way more than Buy 1, Get 1 40% off. It’s a celebration of the perfect matches for you. The perfect coupling. It’s not this or that, it’s “this with that” are meant to be together for me.
Somethings are just better together. They are a match made in Heaven. I am true to my word when I put together each and every collection. The pieces must work together in harmony as a grouping, and they must work together with what you actually wear.
So as a personal shopper and stylist, I am excited to share with you my favorite “matches made in heaven” this weekend. I am also excited to see what combinations of pieces you add to your own collection. Be sure to tell me why you picked certain pieces to go together.
XOXO,
Veronica

There is a lot of education on ring care. A true ring lover knows it’s important not to wear your ring while you do dishes, garden, even sleep at night so protect your investment or sentimental treasure with a beautiful ring dish. A Waterford Classic Ring Dish with the spike is elegant and timeless. While there are many ring dishes available a ring dish with a spike allows you to place the ring on the cone and stay in place. A crystal ring dish is timeless and while your personal tastes may change throughout the years, a timeless piece of crystal-like yours is made to last a lifetime.
Ring lovers love rings, it’s their thing! With an ever growing and changing collection, VMM offers a large assortment of rings in all shapes and sizes, and many vintage rings are even adjustable, which takes the stress out of knowing someone’s size. Vintage rings make a great gift because they are unique and out of production. Picking something that cannot easily be sourced again and is also out of production shows just how much you care about giving someone something truly unique.
Pick one, pick them all. You are sure to delight any ring loving gal with these beautiful gifts.
Happy Holidays,
Veronica

Vintage Meet Modern is more than a vintage jewelry company—it’s a part of the sustainable fashion movement today, tomorrow and forever! We want our entire community to join us in this movement in honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
It’s quite simple to “go green” and still be fabulously chic! Let’s celebrate our wonderful earth by doing our part with these top 5 tips:
Renting is rewarding, and we love Armoire Style! Renting is a fantastic way to update your look when you are in between sizes or feel bored with what you have in your closet but don’t want to invest in pieces you don’t love. It even prevents you from acquiring a bunch of stuff you thought you loved but really didn’t and now they’re headed to the donation pile.
If you truly want to be chic and green, a very simple step towards supporting the sustainable fashion movement is taking care of what you have including spending time and money on mending, alterations, and repair. There are certain tasks you can even easily learn yourself like sewing on a button or mending a small hole on your sweater through online tutorials and even YouTube videos. Many other repairs (like getting your shoes repaired or polished or getting pants let out or taken in) are still more cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and time-saving than simply wearing and discarding an item.
Mending or repairing can even be applied to jewelry and accessories, too. If you have a necklace you love but don’t wear it, take it to your jeweler to have it lengthened or shortened. Have a single diamond earring because you lost the match? Then have it turned into a pendant. Mending and altering things we have is also a chic way to be green!
Stay tuned to Vintage Meet Modern for more tips on how you can support the sustainable fashion movement while still looking & feeling your best everyday!

Hello, lovely!
There is so much to say about our very first collection of 2020, but first, I want to share with you Vintage Meet Modern’s word for this year:
VISIBLE
I want our company to become more visible, so I can reach even more women to help them look and feel their best every day while spreading the love of sustainable fashion! I have always adored showing women all the ways they can incorporate vintage pretties with their modern look, and I’m so excited to continue my passion.
This collection is a perfect display of our word for this year. These stunning pieces will not only make you visible, but they will also truly help you stand out with a unique look! The collection is absolutely colorful, unique and spectacular in every way.
While putting this collection together, I researched women who truly make vintage jewelry modern and memorable. I was delighted to see some of the modern leaders and style icons of our time incorporating vintage pretties into their daily look. A little inspiration was taken from Downton Abbey and Anna Wintour, a modern leader and style icon, who regularly wears authentic Vintage Bezel-set crystal necklaces layered and stacked together.
When I found these bezel set necklaces, I knew they were incredible and collectible already. Seeing Anna Wintour sporting them truly reminded me how easy it is to mix your vintage and modern together AND how easy it is to attain a true couture look within reason. Whether you are pairing your favorite jewelry with your favorite cashmere sweater to run errands or your favorite boucle jacket watching a runway show - this collection is for you and can help you achieve the look you love. The best part, the jewelry always fits!
But what I am most excited about is the inspiration drawn from your requests! YOU asked and we listened! We’ve spent hours and days searching for the absolute best pieces for you, and last fall we received quite a few emails about "wished for" pieces. Many of you mentioned you wanted longer pendant necklaces and Art Deco Styles, so when I was recently invited to take a look at a collection of authentic Art Deco necklaces in a variety of lengths, I knew these pieces had to be part of our first collection of the year. After all, your wish is our command! As we hunker down post-holidays, I am sure a few of you will be watching some of our favorite shows, including Downton Abbey, and I assure you the necklaces you will see in this collection are fit for Lady Mary Crawley and Crew!
Where are my Brooch Babes at?! We know you love a great brooch or two or three, and we also know the holidays are over but there is still plenty of winter left, so it's time to brooch that coat, sweater and those dresses, too. We've got the prettiest brooches for you to see and mix and match with a variety of other pieces from earrings and bracelets to rings and necklaces.
This collection has a bit of everything. Pearls, cameos, long and short necklaces, bracelets made of jade to bring you lots of luck in the new year and more!
We can't help but smile knowing that whatever you pick, it will set you apart from the rest and a bit of history and romance will live on with you in this magical start to a new year and 2020.
I had to share my Top 11 Favorites with you, and tell you why I adore each piece. Be sure to watch the video below!
We hope you love all the pretties as much as we do, and I can't wait to see what you will pick.
xoxo,
Veronica
P.S. Here are all of the links to the pieces I mentioned!
Did ya hear, Darlings? The 20s are coming!
Bring on the decadence, and let’s sparkle like the glam days of the Roaring 20s.
Jazz, Sequins, Sparkles, while sipping on a glass of Champagne… Let your look and personal style shine like you’re dancing the night away with The Great Gatsby.
Our “Welcome to the 20s Collection” features more than 70 pieces that are 20% off from Dec. 26 through Jan. 2. No code is needed, and your discount is applied in cart.
The 1920s were full of glamour and excitement. It was the departure of constricting Victorian corsets. It was the birth of modern fashion the way we know it today, including: sportswear allowing women to move more freely; faux jewelry giving us the look of luxury which could be afforded and attained by all; shorter hair & hemlines; and monochromatic ensembles which we could make our own mark on with fabulous jewelry and accessories.
We were introduced to some of our greatest style icons during this decade including Coco Chanel, Marlene Dietrich, Zelda Fitzgerald, and Josephine Baker, to name a few. In honor of these amazing icons and this new decade, be sure to kick up your heels and share your style wherever you go! Nothing says timeless style or celebrates modern fashion like an authentic piece from our collection.
So just like the history-making women of the 1920s, let’s sparkle our way into the 2020s and remember:
“Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen.” -Coco Chanel
Happy New Year, Lovelies!
Xoxo
Veronica and the VMM Family
Hey there Lovelies --
I am so pumped to be sharing with you another amazing collection! We have 50 FABULOUS finds that I know you’ll just love.
I had a chance to meet up with one of my favorite jewelry fairies, and she pulled out secret trays of sparkles for me which means the absolute BEST finds for you.
Did I mention that we broke a record here of eight degrees?! I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like coat season is starting early this year. While you pull out your coats, hats and boots, it’s time to pick up a brooch or two so you can enjoy your coat all season long while looking gorgeous.
My trays are packed with fabulous brooches for you!
We haven’t had a good necklace party in awhile either, so I knew this week had to have some fabulous finds to wear with your favorite cashmere sweaters and turtlenecks.
So without further adieu, here are my Top 10 Picks this week:
That rounds out my 10 picks for the week, but I promise you the entire collection is exceptional! Each and every piece is truly fantastic, and there are so many ways to wear and enjoy them this season and next.
I cannot wait to see which piece you select to add to your look! Be prepared to receive endless compliments and know that your style sets you apart from the rest always setting you up for greater success.
With much love,
Veronica
Eeekkk! I am so excited because our latest collection has dropped.
November is looking hot, hot, hot!
As many of you know, the VMM collection is a labor of love, but we absolutely never tire of finding unique, amazing vintage jewelry pieces to set your look apart from the rest.
Our collections are designed to ensure you look and feel your best when wearing every piece.
Why? It’s simple!
Great style sets you up for success in all areas of your life. And that is truly what I want for every single one of you.
It’s been a busy, busy month here popping up at places like Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, because I like to support all of you not just when you get dressed but in your home and when you are entertaining, too.
We are always impressed with all of the wonderful people we meet who love to gift VMM to loved ones! Last Saturday at the Geneva Pottery Barn, we had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful woman shopping with her two daughters. The mother fell in love with a ring, and it was such a pleasant surprise that when the mother walked away, one of her daughters came back to our table and said, “I will take the ring, I want to surprise her for Christmas.”
It just warms our hearts when these treasures get to live on as thoughtful gifts for years to come!
At the Orland Park Pottery Barn on Sunday, we had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful woman who said, “Wow, you just made Christmas a whole lot easier for me,” and she picked up brooches for all of her sisters. It was so nice because she said she picked each piece knowing each brooch would look fantastic with their winter coats.
I am telling you, Lovelies! Brooches make the best gifts, so it was no surprise that brooches and rings were popular all weekend long.
I am getting the same question over and over again which is, “what are my favorite pieces?” You know the collection is always changing and that is what I love, but I will let you in on a little secret – of course I have favorites in each one!
So without further adieu, here are my favorites and why! I can’t wait to see who adds these beauties to their look, because they will definitely become your favorites, you will receive endless compliments when you wear them and of course, if you ever wanted to get that “VMM feeling and just bottle it up,” these pieces will do that for you.
Whenever you wear these pieces, you will feel it from the inside out because great style is not just what you wear, but it’s how you feel when you wear them.
Xoxo,
Veronica
Of course, all of the pieces in this collection are simply divine. Each one is unique and has been carefully selected for you with love and intention. Great style really and truly is just a sparkle away!
Today is the last day of school for all of our children.
Our Sophomore daughter, Victoria, finished school last week and today, Valerie (7th Grade soon to be 8th Grader) and Michael (kindergartner soon to be 1st Grader) have their last day, too.
While they got on the bus, it also popped up on FB that 3 years ago, I was featured as BossMom of the Week. This was quite an honor to me and it’s amazing to see how much my business has grown in three years, friendships through BossMom that have continued and how much my children have grown since then, too.
This morning started out as quite the reflection. So, I paused to write in my journal a few things I have learned and a few things I am grateful for, too.
Jump into life... even if it's with your clothes on...
It won’t be easy but it will be worth it.
Just take the shot.
Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.
Be aware; good teachers are everywhere throughout your whole life.

As the school year comes to a close, don’t forget to share with us what you have learned this year in the comments.

Your answer kinda shocked me...
Recently I turned to all of you with an important question… Do you like to shop in person or online for vintage finds?
As a vintage seller who has met so many of you online, I was shocked when 80% of you said in person. Those that answered online said it was because you did not live in an area where you could easily shop for vintage in person but that in-person was your preference.
As you know VMM is dedicated to helping you find the best vintage jewelry to fit your modern life and that is why we are so proud to serve you both in person and online. You love to touch and feel the pieces in person, and we love to meet you, hug you, connect you to the pieces that are meant to be in person, too.
If you have never shopped a vintage market, here are 5 reasons why you must follow us and find out where we are going to pop up because just like we source the best jewelry, we also pop up at the best places where it's more than jewelry, it's an experience.
At VMM, we pop up places that fit your lifestyle. Recently, we popped up at places like Retrospect Chicago and JCrew. As we put it "high vibe" places. Incredible people, music that puts you in a good mood, displays that catch your eye and inspire you, locations that are easy to navigate, friendly folks and more. After all the VMM woman has a lot to do in her life so when she shops, it must put her in a good mood, too. It's fun to shop from the convenience of your home but the atmosphere at events can't be recreated. Not only will you leave with some fantastic finds, you'll leave in a better mood, too.
You crave great style but you also crave information. In today's age, you could google anything but high-quality in-person events are full of experts that can aid you in your style journey, support your values, and cure your thirst for knowledge. High-quality events bring out the best of curators in the vintage and antique world. Many times you get a history and styling session with white glove customer service all at the same time, as well you should because you deserve nothing but the best.
You can find anything on the internet or can you? In many ways you can but only at a vintage event like Retrospect Chicago can you find a Dior Purse, a massive collection of vintage sunglasses (which can all be fitted with prescription lenses, to by the way) Zsa Zsa Gabor's jewelry and more all under the same roof and get to take them home the same day. Vintage markets and events have rare finds that are immediately accessible. Just don't wait too long, because nothing haunts us like the vintage we didn't buy, if you see and love it, snap that rare find up because it was meant for you.
I like to remind people when you shop at vintage events and markets pat yourself on the back, you are part of the sustainable fashion movement. You are surrounded by unique out-of-production goods that are getting to be loved and appreciated again. Many of the things found at these events are curated and in excellent condition, there is no good reason to simply discard them. People who are new to shopping vintage are always a bit taken aback when we tell them something is 50, 60, 70, 80+ years old. When things are taken care of an are of a higher quality which most vintage goods are, they are a way to support the sustainable fashion movement and lifestyle. I like to remind people if it's in this good of condition now with care there is no reason why it should not live on for another 50, 60, 70, 80+ years.
High-quality events have a little something for everyone so bring your bestie, mom, significant other and children, too. Vintage events like Retrospect and Randolph Street Market have a little bit of something for everyone. Food for the foodie, vintage t-shirts for those who crave casual styles, vintage couture for the fashionista, cufflinks for dad, vintage books for the history lover, home decor for the Joanna Gaines fan, even cupcakes for the kiddies and you can never start their curiosity and love of vintage too soon.
So are you excited to go vintage shopping?
We are! And we can't wait to meet you in person at events that have all of the things we talked about here. Vintage Meet Modern pops up at least twice a month at awesome events from European Style Markets, Small Boutiques, Vintage Faires, Antique Shows and even shops you love like JCrew and Ann Taylor. We bring our best jewelry and of couse, our best style secrets and suggestions, too.
We'll see you in person soon!
xoxo,
Veronica and the VMM Family
Have a suggestion where you would like to see us pop up? Send it our way here.
Can you believe that it is already April 1st?!? What are you up to? How does your month look? Are you finally turning over your closet and putting away the sweaters and coats? Are you excited to step into spring?
You deserve nothing but the best, so we are excited to help you have the best spring style and set yourself apart from the rest. To help you achieve this, we have new collections planned, a few surprises, a ton of pop-up appearances and more. Spring is also a perfect time for a refresh, renewal, and new beginnings.
For years you have asked me, where does all the jewelry come from, how to wear it, why it's special, who wears it, how to mix it with your modern wardrobe, and more. So I am really excited to announce that we are launching a #live Video Interview Show to answer these questions and support your Vintage Meet Modern Lifestyle.
This is huge! Thank you so much for the incredible beginning of the year. We had so many highlights here are just a few:
Our Vintage Chanel Earring Collection Sold Out, for privacy reasons we never disclose clients but this was extremely special because all of the earrings came from a collector and all of the earrings went to a new Collector, who is of much younger generation AND she intends on passing the collection down to her 1-year-old daughter. Talk about Vintage Meet Modern, living a life of incredible style and living a truly Vintage Meet Modern Life. These stories mean more than you know and we cherish when you share them with us, for real.
You love J.Crew and we do, too. Love was in the air at our February Pop Up at the Northbrook Court Store. Sweets and sparkes were perfectly paired. A special thank you to manager, Veronica Ponce who has been a champion for the JCrew Legacy Movement, Supporter of Small

You, Lovelies rock. So many of you are devoted to great style and living a life of intention, something we truly embrace here at VMM so I was honored to speak at this conference in Lake Geneva about starting a business with what you already have. It was an added bonus that we brought the jewelry, made so many new friends and so many pieces went off to knew forever homes.
Spring officially sprung at VMM in March! We popped up at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show sponsored by Randolph Street Market.
Wow! What a turn out. We made so many new friends, we had such a blast and who wouldn't be inspired by all the beautiful things the show had to offer and experience. It was a once in lifetime experience for team VMM and we felt very lucky to connect with you in person and bring the show to all of you through our #live videos and behind the scenes shots. You definitely want to mark your calendars and attend this event next year.
What you didn't see that was going on behind the scenes. You really gave us some important feedback and we took it to heart. VMM has the most pop up's, collaborations, and content planned to answer your burning questions about how to make vintage jewelry modern and memorable, what brands and boutiques support your personal style, and how we all work together.
So stay tuned, so much is planned for you!
A new #live video show with interviews is coming soon.
An even better Jewelry Party Wednesday with prizes, presents, and the best collections ever!
More collaborations with brands you love and brands you haven't heard of yet but are going to adore and support your style and your vintage jewelry collection.
PopUps, PopUps, PopUps - VMM is going to be every place so you can definitely come to see us in person and drumroll please, I am even making time for you to shop with me. So if you have ever wanted to start a vintage jewelry collection but don't know where to start, we can help. If you have ever stared at a piece thinking, I love it but I don't know what to wear it with, we can help with that, too.
So much jewelry and so much joy going on all in one place, it's a super exciting time to be part of the VMM Movement, every day is your chance to sparkle and shine, and we are honored to be part of it.
xoxo,
Veronica
Hey, Lovelies
Have you ever been to the Chicago Flower and Garden Show? If not, you need to clear your calendar and visit us at the Show.
Here are 5 awesome reasons to come to experience this beautiful event in Chicago.
You don't have to enjoy Gardening to enjoy the shows. The exhibits are gorgeous, if you love outdoor scenery, enjoying a glass of wine on the patio, flowers as art, the whole concourse is full of beautiful eye candy and endless inspiration. Plus, it is the best way to celebrate the beginning of spring after the long cold Chicago winter. The atmosphere alone will cure your winter blues and put you in the spring state of mind.
The event is packed with amazing and fun things to do. There are cooking demonstrations, container gardening workshops, activities for the kids, art installations, a pop-up market, a food court and more. You can make an entire day of the event plus it's held at Navy Pier, which in itself is legendary Chicago attraction so there is so much to do!
The Flower and Garden Show has a long history in Chicago, it's quite the tradition dating back to 1847. "When it was created as an exhibition of prized fruits and flowers. Today the Chicago Flower & Garden Show is all about inspiring, educating and motivating the next generation of gardener. Whether in a backyard, kitchen or rooftop, this is where green lovers and families go to discover ideas while having fun." - Chicago Flower and Garden Show
You can get your tickets here.

Education and working together is so important and you will meet the nicest people at this event. It has a little bit of everything to offer, so don't be shy, come say "Hi."
Well, we saved the best for last. We are going to be there, you heard correct. Vintage Meet Modern is bringing their incredible jewelry thanks to our Lovely hosts, Randolph Street Market. When we learned that Randolph Street Market was going to be at the Flower and Garden Show, we knew we had to be there. First because it's the premier monthly Antique Market and Festival l in the city and it always has the best to offer its visitors. So that answers the question. You always ask us, "where do we get all of our amazing stuff and how do we find it?" You can find it at RSM! We are popping up with Rand Rosenthal of Rosenthal Design group in booth 531 and just showing you a teeny tiny sampling of what you can find during the monthly market. And in true, VMM fashion, we know it's about way more than jewelry, it's a movement and experience, so please come out and see us, we are happy to your concierge and talk to you and show you all the show has to offer.
Search no more, clear those calendars, and come out and meet us at the Garden Show, it's guaranteed to be an amazing time. A great place to make memories, meet some new friends and experience a special event like no other in Chicago! We will see you there.

VMM would be nothing without the women who support it. We absolutely love showing off all the latest sparkles and showing you how easy it is to add a touch of vintage to your modern look.
There is something so special about wearing vintage jewelry and jewelry in general. It is true, it’s that one little special touch that sets us apart from the rest. We are so lucky to be surrounded by women who embrace this philosophy and share their sparkle with the rest of the world. It is simply amazing to be in the company of so many special women who embrace their unique style and share it wherever they go, it truly is a gift.
That is why we have a special gift for every single one of you tonight! It’s Galentine’s so let this be a year-round reminder that you are loved and celebrated. I thought, how would I ever get to send each and every single one of you a Valentine?

This print is special for so many reasons: the quote is true. Beauty does begin the moment you decided to be yourself just like the famous style icon Coco Chanel herself said. Just like timeless style, these flowers won’t fade. Also, this beautiful piece was commissioned for you and designed by one of our own talented team members, Leanne Flowers.
Happy Galentine’s Day! Thank you for being part of the Vintage Meet Modern Movement and sharing your sparkle everywhere you go.

PS. Got a Burning Question For VMM or Want To Tell Us Your Throughts? Leave us a Comment! We love to chat with you!
Someone believed in me before I even knew what was Vintage Meet Modern.
A necklace, a cookie jar, a coat, and ornament reminded me of that.
VMM is known for its hand-curated collection unique collection of vintage jewelry, but it’s also a lifestyle and a community.
This year was our biggest year yet, it had a lot of ups and down. As an extremely determined and dedicated person, I put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve certain milestones. Sales goals lives we would touch, jewelry we would acquire, all of it. Admittedly, I love to measure and track things so I can monitor personal and professional progress so even though we fell short in areas, it was still pretty amazing to see all of our success, too.
As I worked harder and harder to achieve my goals and vision for VMM, I received some of the same questions over and over again about how I got started with VMM and how I knew so much about vintage jewelry and similar topics.
I had a few standard answers like I grew up around it, I love to read and immerse myself in learning, and of course, I have always credited my supportive family and the first job I really loved as a sales associate at Neiman Marcus in Chicago.
But as I put together calendars, and attended meetings, flew across the country to conferences, collected and sourced new jewelry, chatted with customers and our small but mighty team, there seemed to be a recurring theme.
“Meant to be.”
I have a close friend, my biz bestie, who is also one of my mentors, Natalie Shafer Gingrich. This beautiful soul would challenge me over and over again to tell the stories of how I knew so much without giving one of the answers above. I would always shake my head, and say - weren’t we just in the same conference and lecture? Weren’t we just asked to tell our story in 15 seconds or less? That’s what I did, and my dear friend, Natalie would shake her head and say, “no” that’s not what I meant. And so arm in arm like a couple of gal pals, as we got to know each other better, we would eat out or chat with friends, and I would share an anecdote or explain how we really should study the construction of a garment because you can tell the quality, or you should always tie a scarf around your handbag handle not just for a pop of color but because it will shield your hair in the wind and rain. And she would say -- “That! Tell that story. That’s what people want to know.” I would shake my head again, and say, “well everyone knows that...there is no story or tip to be told that hasn’t already been told,” and so I would return to the world of slinging sparkles and styling clients
While I carried trunks of jewelry across the country, I would frequently get stopped by TSA. “I am a vintage and antique jewelry dealer,” I would explain. While riffling around people would always ask, how did you get into that?
And I would say, well I love jewelry and I have a reciprocal business, I help people with special treasures re-home their collections and I work with extraordinary women from all over the world in search of unique one of kind accessories that always fit, it’s a win-win.
But what became apparent, the more I chatted was it was like someone knew it was my destiny before me. The TSA agent pulls down her collar and shows me a locket she has been wearing since she was a teenager because her grandmother gave it to her. She is beaming with pride and 10 minutes ago she hated the fact that she was stuck swiping every nook and cranny of my carry on. By the time we are done zipping up my suitcase, she is hugging me and following us on social media and telling me we should stay in touch. I am honored and humbled but at some level, I sell myself short as I feel I was just doing my job, the real story is the one of the young woman and how she celebrates her memory of her grandma every day.
This year has not just been a year of goals, it has been a big year of reflection and pivots, too. The more time I spent listening to people’s stories, the more I began to journal about mine and how I got here. What would I do with all of it, besides selling jewelry?
On a dark and stormy night in October, I decided it needed to be about more than the jewelry. It would not be easy and not everyone would understand why the time to talk about Vintage Meet Modern and as community and lifestyle meshed with vintage jewelry.
But a cookie jar, a coat, an ornament, a watch and a necklace all were big signs to me, that together we can do great things. How one thing might touch our lives but actually it touches many and goes beyond the scope of being just a “thing.”

Have you ever felt like you were seeing double or deja vu? This time of year triggers all the feels. While searching for a new Christmas cookie recipe to try with our little crew, I also came across some cookie jars. I came across one, in particular, that had me feeling like I was seeing double. I saw an owl cookie jar from Anthropologie that looked like my grandmothers. This week I decided to tell the story of the cookie jar, one of my favorite stores, Anthropologie, and how easy it is to incorporate your vintage into your modern life. Have a look and listen and find out why I love Anthropologie, why I believe its an incredible place to source new treasures and be inspired to have a second look at some of your own.
I am also sharing some sweet treats and what we are putting in the cookie jar this year, thank you, Creme Bakery in Orland Park, IL for collaborating with us. The only thing missing from this post is the ability to smell and taste because her creations are delicious, if you are in the area be sure to make a special trip and stop by...come hungry.
Thank you so much for joining us on our journey of making vintage modern and memorable, please share your memories, special treasures, why you love Anthropologie, and of course, your sweet treat recipes!

We always have such a blast popping up at the J.Crew in Northbrook Court. J.Crew has something for everyone and service and style cannot be matched!
We love that J.Crew is a legacy brand, that celebrates timeless styles, high quality goods, and size and family inclusive. It’s easy to fall in love with there classic casual styles, their distinctive work wear, and their luxe looks for more formal affairs, too.
The store was absolutely bustling when we visited in December. It was a pleasure getting to meet so many lovely people shopping to complete their holiday look or find the perfect gift for that someone special. We were thrilled that so many pieces from Vintage Meet Modern went home with new friends.
If you are still shopping for the last minute gift, Vintage Meet Modern and J.Crew have you covered. Here is a little inspiration for you.
Remember, all the jewelry can be found at Vintage Meet Modern and we have linked the pieces we featured at J.Crew below.

My favorite Chocolate to give with Jewelry? Gems of course! I love fun designs at Maggie Louise Confections. If you would like $10 off your first order, I have a referral link for you.
Amazing Shawl + Brooch
Shawls, Cowls, and Scarves also make stunning gifts for Mother-in-laws, and special aunts. I love the selection of scarves they have at Talbots, Brooksbrothers, and J.Crew. Scarves and brooches go together splendidly like a bubbly champagne and orange juice at Christmas Brunch, this elegant combo is both pretty and practical.
Book + Brooch
I love to gift books, too. Some of my favorites include books from the beautiful Jennifer L. Scott. Her Madame Chic series books are perfect light reads and are inspirational, too. They are perfect for your best friend or a special colleague. You can find her books online at Amazon.
Cosmetics & Rings
For the beauty loving gal, vintage jewelry plus cosmetics is a win. My favorite are the palettes from Bobbi Brown. A pretty bow, statement earrings or an adjustable ring is an easy and elegant gift that is sure to delight.

Spring is in bloom! This week's collection is inspired by the soft pastel hues that we seeing popping up everywhere just like the daffodils and tulips. With such wide variety of colors and ways to wear pastels, they are flattering on everyone.
Here are a few ways to wear pastel jewelry and a few fabulous examples of looks from ladies we love:
When we think about a woman who always looks effortlessly chic wearing pastels as a neutral, we can’t help but think about the beautiful Stacy Tuschl who wears blush as a signature color:

Another great example of how to style this week’s collection is pair pastels together for soft but bold pop of color. We fell head over heels in love with Bella Rosa’s Boutique’s Floral Trench and we think this is the perfect example of how you can buy a printed piece that actually provides limitless ways to style and accessorize. The soft muted color palette looks fabulous paired with a one pastel accent color or a rainbow of soft pastels.

Be daring with pastels.
A soft color palette is perfect for this time of year, don’t shy away if you crave pops of color and bright accents. We are frequently inspired by Nicole Warne, from Gary Pepper:

Pastels are the perfect backdrop to express your personal style. They even set the stage for a bold, chic, and sophisticated look.

It is March Modness, right?
If you hang around at VMM, you know we love a good pun. So maybe we don’t know what teams are playing but we do know a thing a two about Mod 1960s and 1970s jewels - clean lines, bold elements, sophisticated but subtle chic, simple color palettes, these pieces are perfect to wear as a statement piece with wardrobe basics like white tees and jeans. Or they create a bold, sophisticated, chic, and sleek style statement when worn with short and long dresses.
Mod jewelry styles are perfect when you love to wear statement jewelry but don’t want a complicated or busy design. They're like an exclamation point, a simple energetic universal way to finish your look.
(Aurora Borealis Vintage Bracelet & Headlight Rhinestone Bracelet by VMM, Vintage Heliotrope Rainbow Rhinestone Pieces by VMM)
VMM is known for their coveted collection of sparkly pieces and this week does not disappoint. If fact, it celebrates two of our favorite types of rhinestones, aurora borealis and watermelon heliotrope.
Aurora borealis rhinestones became famous for the iridescent glow in the 1950s. Invented by Swarovski in the 1950s, the aurora borealis crystal was inspired by the soft colorful glow of the northern lights.
Heliotrope is everything we love about bright colors and even the rainbow.
(Vintage Jade Ring, Earrings, Statement Necklace from Vintage Meet Modern)
Asian everything and faux jade jewelry were wildly popular in the American costume and designer jewelry world in the the late 1960s and 1970s era. It was bold, unique, and was a modern take on truly a centuries old jewelry tradition.
Faux jade jewelry became a very popular element in design during this era. Green is considered a classy, elegant, and powerful color. It is rich and elegant when set in gold tones. Jade is regarded as the stone of good luck and good fortune and literally has been worn in many cultures for centuries because of the intense powerful properties associated with it.
Traditional designers like Avon, Crown Trifari, Ciner, and Kenneth Jay Lane all used faux jade as part of their high fashion on trend collections during the late 1960s and 1970s. These pieces and styles have become incredibly collectible and are somewhat scarce, too. They represent a shift in styles during this time period, the introduction of higher quality materials fashioned to look like genuine jewels in a designer setting, it’s everything we love about faux and fabulous designer jewelry.
And of course, who doesn’t feel lucky when wearing jade?
Regarded as a good luck charm and good fortune and set in eye catching unique designs one can’t help but feel prosperous and fortunate, especially because you will receive endless compliments when wearing these unique styles and everyone will be asking - where did you get that, Darling?
Style Tip Jade on Jade! We love this goregous green suit from our friends at Bella Rose Boutique, one styling suggestion is embrace the power of one. We love this bright and beautiful green and know the pieces from this week’s collection would complete and compliment this look.

Ever since I was a little girl playing in my grandmothers closet, vintage has been a part of me. I seek it out in stores and still want to hold onto items my mother is ready to get rid of. Vintage fashion and jewelry speaks to my soul.
I have a lot of pieces from my family. My great grandfather was a jeweler and his pieces are lovely. But, I also collect vintage scarves and clothes. I love wearing boyfriend jeans, a white t-shirt ad my turquoise St. John knit jacket with big gold buttons. Its fabulous!
