January 19, 2020: Chic Style + Colors for Every Mood

January 20, 2020

This week’s collection is simply elegant and wonderful in every way with unique pieces to fit every mood and style!

Beautiful floral prints are making a comeback, and you'll also see yellow and blue as trending colors in 2020. In fact, Pantone's Color of the Year is "Classic Blue," a shade reminiscent of the sky at dusk. Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth and heaven.

And, hello yellow! This bright color symbolizes freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment and remembrance. If you follow me onInstagram, you know I always add inspirational posts, and I am seeing lots of bright colors (including yellow) from brands we love likeFrances Valentine andJ.Crew. In this new collection, you can definitely expect fun pieces that will go perfectly with modern trends and colors.

This week’s collection is also inspired by new additions you have hanging in your closet.

Did you hit a few post-holiday sales? Cash in those gift cards? Maybe you’re thinking that since a new year has settled in, it might be time to freshen up your look and truly step into being the woman you want to be.Just like the finishing touch, the tassels on the drapes, the sprinkles on the cupcake, the lipstick you put on right before you dash out the door — these beautiful pieces are meant to be worn and celebrate YOU.

Which brings me to my own confession...I did a little post holiday shopping myself.

Sustainability and style is really important to me, so I don’t tend to buy a lot of clothes even though I love changing my look everyday. But, it’s important to remember that the world is your runway, so why not use it as a way to express yourself?! Last year, I vowed to not to buy clothing but instead change my look through jewelry and accessories.

This year, I had to have a heart-to-heart with myself about what I had hanging in my closet and where I was at in my own life. Many people get excited about adding new clothes to their closet after a weight loss. Unfortunately, I am not proud to be at my heaviest weight, but I am proud to say that I am working to improve and doing my best to love and accept myself. There is no time like the present, so it was time to add some new clothes to my closet that fit well everyday, just likeVMM’s jewelry  which always fits!

So this week’s collection led me down a rabbit hole for a while because when I do shop for clothing, it's extremely intentional. I don’t do fads or on-trend pieces. I had never treated myself to something fromShop Buru but admired their pieces for a long time because the clothing is for mothers (raises hands because I am in the thick of raising three babies ages 16,14 and 7). Then I read all about their “trifecta” and I thought to myself, I have to experience their pieces because Buru has many similarities withVintage Meet Modern. Our collections must meet the same high standards which means that every piece must be chic, stylish, sustainable, work with your modern life, AND be worn in a multitude of ways.

So this collection reflects what we do best here at VMM: mixing your vintage with your modern clothes. After all, we have to get dressed to wear our jewelry with something, so I can’t help but think of one of my favorite quotes,“Buy less, choose well, make it last” - Vivienne Westwood.

We have a lot of moonglow jewelry this week, and we are excited to teach you a little bit about why these pieces are special. Basically, moonglow represents the ability to mimic the look ofreal in a fun way. From a collector’s perspective, high quality pieces made of lucite are only increasing in value such as these beautiful moonglow beaded necklaces, bracelet and earrings.

Joseph H. Meyer & Bros, producers of the Richelieu brand of costume jewelry, patented its own version of lucite in the 1940s called satinore. Often referred to as moonglow jewelry, its opaque plastic included a substance that produced a pearly shine that was used on everything fromvintage brooches to imitationpearl necklaces. Coro also used opaque lucite as a synthetic substitute for certain natural minerals, like moonstone and chalcedony.

Remember, jewelry can serve you in so many ways and can easily complete your look! Jewelry can also be an anchor for your feelings and help you celebrate memories. When you get dressed in the morning, be sure to put a piece on that means something special to you or even speaks to your heart about trust, loyalty, faith, truth and more through its symbolic colors!

As we settle into the third week of the year, 2020 is here to stay.So let's embraceC O L O R (even in the frigid winter) and incorporate even morevintage jewelry  into our everyday chic & modern look!

Can’t wait to see what you add to your jewelry box, but one thing I do know for sure is when you wear these pieces, you will feel a whole lot of happiness, peace and calmness, too. It will be our “little jewelry love language” kept between me and you!

Always Sparkle, Lovelies!
Veronica
